Michael Wolf

Michael D. Wolf, age 54, of Potosi, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. He was born on April 14, 1960, in Iowa, the son of Daniel and Helen (Gansemer) Wolf. Michael graduated from Western Dubuque High School in Epworth, IA, in 1978. On May 23, 1998, Michael was united in marriage to Shyla A. Bennett. Together with his twin brother, Mark, he owned and operated Wolf Customs in Dubuque, IA. He had a lifelong passion for high level car restoration. Michael was a member of St. Andrew/Thomas Catholic Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, gardening, and wildlife. Michael was a Green Bay Packer and NASCAR fan and enjoyed a good game of Euchre.

Survivors include his loving wife, Shyla; his daughter, Rayne; his siblings: Mark (Lynne); Keith (Nancy); Brian (Lisa); Dawn (James) Welter; Becky Wolf and her husband, Chuck Minnick; his mother, Helen Wolf; mother-in-law, Claudette Bennett; his brothers and sister-in-law: Alan (Diane); Vernon (Linda); Kevin (Kim Stoney); Dean (Judy) Bennett; Theresa (John) Neshiem; many nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Daniel, and his father-in-law, James.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in St. Thomas Cemetery, Potosi. Family and friends called on Friday, April 25, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Mildred B. Wolf

Mildred B. Wolf, age 93, of Lancaster, died on Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She was born on August 12, 1916, the daughter of Ulysses and Augusta (Rossow) Boyd in Ellenboro township. Mildred was united in marriage to Charles W. Wolf on January 1, 1942 at the Methodist Parsonage in Lancaster. He preceded her in death on January 24, 1989. She worked at the Grant County Independent, the Lancaster Care Center as a Nurses Aid before retiring from the Lancaster Memorial Hospital as a ward clerk.

Mildred was a gourmet cook, enjoyed embroidery, quilting, traveling and loved music and performing with her sister, Dorothy. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren.

Mildred is survived by her three children: Weyma Jean Reavis, Minneapolis; Rodney (Norma) Wolf, Lancaster and Douglas (Karla) Wolf, Pahrump, NV; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy Walker, Lancaster; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; a granddaughter, Cory Timmerman; two sisters: Elva Haines and Theresa Boyd and a brother, Harry Boyd.

Funeral services were on Monday, November 16, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster with Robert Orr officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends called on Sunday, November 15, 2009, from 2:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Monday.

Rosemary Wolf

Rosemary Wolf, age 64, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016,
surrounded by her loving family by her side at Orchard Manor Nursing Home after a courageous battle with ALS. She was born on February 8, 1952, the daughter of Dorman and Genevieve (Sherwin) Losch, in Lancaster. Rosemary graduated from Lancaster High School in 1970 and earned her LPN degree from MATC in Madison in 1971. She was employed at the Lancaster Care Center for 40 years as an LPN and at Lancaster High School as a teaching assistant for 13 years.

Rosemary was united in marriage for43 years, to the love of her life Mark Wolf, on October 7, 1972 at St Clement Catholic Church, Lancaster. Rosemary enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband Mark at Lake Joy. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and going to their many activities. She adored her husband and valued their time together, especially as her primary caregiver.

Rosemary is survived by her devoted husband, Mark; son, Todd (Sheri) their children, Lindsey, Alexander, and Logan of Lancaster; son, Jeff (Shelly) their children, Amya and Keyonna of Peosta, IA.; daughter, Amy (Jon) Schuldt and their daughters, Mackinley and Lianna of Fort Atkinson, WI. She is further survived by a sister, Bev Fishnick; and brothers and sisters-in-law; Larry (Pam) Wolf; Jann (Richard) Harms; Kris Wolf and Sherry Losch; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law, Robert & Marian Wolf, a brother, Donald, a brother-in-law, Doug Wolf, and a nephew, Dennis Fishnick.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Church, Lancaster with Reverend John Sasse officiating. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Visitation was held on Monday, August 29, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Clement Church where a 3:40 p.m. parish rosary will be prayed. Family and friends also called one hour prior to the time of the service on Tuesday. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Rosemary Wolf Memorial Fund.

Donna J. Wolfe

Donna J. Wolfe, age 80, of Lancaster, died on Friday, March 26, 2010, at Meriter Hospital in Madison with her loving family at her side. She was born on March 28, 1929, in Mt. Ida, WI, the daughter of Leo C. and Luella M. (Haas) Speaker. Donna graduated from Fennimore High School. On November 16, 1948, Donna was united in marriage to Paul Wolfe, Sr. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. She started her job career at Lancaster Memorial Hospital for a few years before helping her husband, Paul run the Midway Tavern in Potosi for over 38 years. They retired in 1995 and enjoyed spending time on the banks of their favorite fishing holes in northern WI. Donna loved to fish, often besting Paul with her catch. She delighted in giving most of her catch to her friends. Seventeen years ago, after suffering a debilitating stroke following aneurysm surgery, Donna continued to enjoy life despite the doctors prognosis. She continued to crochet afghans for grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took pleasure in all wildlife.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Paul Wolfe, Sr., Lancaster; eight children, 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren: Kristine M. (Ronald) Zenz, Bagley and their children, Yvonne (Michael) Piontek, Oakdale, MN, their children, Kaitlynn and Haley; Chad (Paula Nerby) Zenz, Verona, their children, Andrew and Kylie; Regina Zenz, Camp Douglas, Nichole (Todd) Wiest, Cassville, their children, Trae, Jay and Trent Mezera; Heidi (Charles) Williams, Bagley, their children, Skyler, Morgan and Adam; Vanessa Zenz, Bagley, her son, Jacob Meyers; Tyson (Maria) Zenz, El Paso, TX; Aleise (Cyril) Oyen, Potosi, their children, Peter (friend, Jessica Laufenberg) Oyen, Madison, Jennifer (Jamie) Yager, Dubuque, their children, Margaret and Johnathan; Angela (Anthony) Capps, Potosi, their children, Jayden and Journee; Cory (fianc, Trisha Lemieux) Oyen, Richland Center; Paul G. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 29, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in the Church Cemetery. Family and friends called on Sunday, March 28, 2010, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services all at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Martin Funeral Home in Potosi is serving the family. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to St. Andrew Cemetery.

Della Ann Womack

Della A. Womack, age 67 of Belmont died Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the Finley Hospital in Dubuque. She was born on January 13, 1941, the daughter of Harvey and Edith (Diders) Johnson in Cuba City, WI. Della married Joseph H. Womack on June 24, 1961 at the Lutheran Church of Peace in Platteville. She was a life long member of the Lutheran Church of Peace. Della liked to listen to music and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

Della is survived by her husband, Joe, Belmont; her daughter, Karen (Brent) Schroeder, Platteville; three grandchildren: Trent, Megan and McKenzie; her sister, Velma (Merle) Curtis, Cuba City; a sister-in-law, Jan Johnson, Fayette; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Donald Johnson.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2008 at the Lutheran Church of Peace in Platteville with the Reverend Jeffrey Pederson officiating. Burial was held at Greenwood Cemetery in Platteville. Family and friends were welcome from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2008 at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Platteville and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church.

Joseph H. Womack

Joseph H. Womack, age 79, of Belmont , WI , died Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at his home.

Joe was born on November 15, 1933 in Platteville , WI , a son of Guerdon & Berneice (Manual) Womack.

He married Della A. Johnson on June 24, 1961, at the Lutheran Church of Peace in Platteville.

Joe had a strong personal faith, and was a member of Lutheran Church of Peace. He loved being a grandfather, and enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren. Joe worked at Thermolyne in Dubuque , until his retirement.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Karen Womack of Platteville; three grandchildren, Trent, Megan, and McKenzie Schroeder; and nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Della, in 2008; his parents; two sisters, Helen Jones, and Dorothy Creasy; and several infant brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services were held at 1 pm on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Lutheran Church of Peace in Platteville, with Pastor Jeffrey Pederson officiating. Burial was at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery in Platteville. Visitation was from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the service Saturday at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Platteville is assisting the family.

David B. Wood

It is with deep sadness and heavy regret to announce David B. Wood, age 59, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015. He was born on January 24, 1955, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Lois and the late Robert "Dean" Wood. He married Patricia S. Esser on November 3, 1990, at St. Charles Catholic Church.

Dave is a 1973 graduate of Cassville High School and earned his CDL and Heavy Equipment Operator licenses from Diesel Truck Driver Training School in Sun Prairie. He worked as an equipment operator-fuels in the coal yard at Alliant Energy for 15 years. Prior to his years at Alliant Energy, Dave worked on the Wood family farm. Dave was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid sports fan, cheering for and attending many Brewers, Packers, Badgers, and Cassville Comets games. He loved golf and especially enjoyed playing with his sons even when they beat him! Daves warmth, kindness, love, and incredible sense of humor were appreciated by all those who were lucky enough to know him.

A treasured husband, father, son, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, nephew, cousin, godparent, co-worker, and friend, Dave is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Patti; two children: Joshua & Jacob of Cassville; his mother, Lois of Cassville; three sisters: Janet (Tim) Hess & Kathy (Pete) Stohs of Cassville, Lori (Rich) Bailey of Dodgeville; parents-in-law: Chris & Mary Ila Esser of Cassville; sisters-in-law: Ann (Harvey) Morley of Cuba City, Lisa (Jeff) Somerville of Hudson, Beth (Derek) Esser Peterson of Monona; many beloved nieces & nephews, and dog, Maggie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert "Dean" Wood.

The family would like to thank all of the many Team Dave supporters-No One Fights Alone. Special thanks to the Cassville Ambulance volunteers, Glen Haven First Responders, the wonderful staff at Grant Regional Health Center, Dr. Sheirlie Lamantia, and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center, especially his oncologist Dr. Dusty Deming, nurses Anica and Jen and numerous others.

A Funeral Mass was held at 11:00 a.m. on Daves 60^th birthday, Saturday, January 24, 2015, at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville, with Fr. John Meinholz and Msgr. Jim Uppena officiating. Burial will be in Gockel Cemetery, Glen Haven. Family and friends called on Friday, January 23, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church where a 3:45 p.m. parish scripture service was held. Friends also called on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a David B. Wood Memorial Fund has been established. Loyle K. Wood

Loyle K. Wood, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, age 79, of Cassville, died following open heart surgery on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at St. Marys Hospital in Madison. He was born on February 13, 1933, in Grant County, the son of Lawrence and Leila (Dolphin) Wood. Loyle attended Bloomington High School. He entered the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and served his country from 1951 until 1955 on the USS Hamul. On January 21, 1956, Loyle was united in marriage to Elaine Sanders in Madison. After their marriage, the couple moved to Whitewater where Loyle attended college. In 1957, the couple moved to the Cassville area where they farmed for thirty years. Loyle also sold silos, farm equipment, and seed corn. After farming, he was an Insurance Agent for Bloomington Farmers Mutual where he also served on the board, and was the secretary/treasurer and manager of the company. He retired at age 75. Loyle was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Cassville and the VFW Post No. 7080 of Cassville. He served on various boards and committees for the surrounding community. Loyle was a private pilot, an avid sports fan, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and bird watching. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-six years, Elaine Wood, Cassville; their children: Stuart Wood, McFarland; Steve (Ann) Wood, Waunakee; Sandy Wood, Sun Prairie; Stan (Kathy) Wood; Shawn (Dena) Wood; Susan (Mitch) Degenhardt, all of Cassville; Spencer Wood, Chicago, IL; ten grandchildren: Jeremy (Megan) Wood, Brooke (Tyler) Niesl, Jordan, Aaron (Desiree), Trenton, Brandon, Blake, and Brinley Wood, Andrea and Tiffany Degenhardt; three great-grandchildren; his three siblings: Janice Briggs, Madison; Keith (Kay) Wood, and Joann (Richard) Pellock, all of Cassville; two sisters-in-law: Irene Wood and Lois Wood, both of Cassville; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Loyle was preceded in death by a son, Stacey Wood, and his brothers: Raymond, Loren (Marge) and RobertDean Wood; and a brother-in-law, John Briggs.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville with Reverend Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Burial with military honors was held in Cassville Cemetery. Family and friends called on Friday, March 23, 2012, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Betty L. Woodford

Betty L. (Drew) Woodford, age 78, of LaCrosse, formerly of Lancaster, died on Friday, September 7, 2012, at Gundersen-Lutheran Hospice in LaCrosse. She was born on January 27, 1934, in Lancaster, the daughter of Walter and Elsie (Fralick) Drew. As a child, she loved spending time with her maternal grandparents, Clarence and Hazel Fralick in Bagley. Betty graduated from Lancaster High School in 1952. She furthered her education at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore. Betty was employed with Job Services in Lancaster and most recently in LaCrosse. She loved her job and just retired at age seventy-five. Betty enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her greatest joy came from helping people. Betty was a very generous person with a big heart. She also enjoyed watching QVC and HSN. Betty was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster.

Survivors include her children: Walter Woodford, N1706 Breidel Coulee Rd., LaCrosse; and Susan (Terry) Olson, 154 S. Jackson, Lancaster; 8 grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; her brothers: Norman (Juanita) Drew; Jerry (Jeannie) Drew; Mark (Tammy) Drew; and Rex Drew; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her children: Wendy Woodford and Richard Woody Woodford.

In keeping with Bettys wishes there will be no services. Private family burial will be at a later date. Schwartz Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Bessie A. Wopat

Bessie A. Wopat, age 94, of Hillsboro, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the Tomah Care Center, Tomah. She was born on August 2, 1919, at the family farm in Greenwood Township, Vernon, County, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Snorek) Hooker. Bessie was united in marriage to Ernest Wopat in November of 1945 and together they lived their entire lives in Hillsboro. She first worked as a nanny for the Hart Family and as an operator for the Hillsboro Telephone Company before becoming a cook for the Hillsboro School District for many, many years, until her retirement. Bessie loved to garden and raise flowers.

Survivors include three siblings, Elgin Hooker, Edward Bud (Bonnie) Hooker; and Marie Hooker, all of Hillsboro; numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend, Nathan Prell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ernest, on November 2, 1991; three brothers: Billie in infancy, Marvin and Donald; three sisters-in-law: Marie Garner, Agnes Shaker, and Sylvia Kouba; a nephew, Larry Hooker.

Funeral services were on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hillsboro with Reverend Conrad Prell officiating. Burial will be in the Czech National Cemetery, rural Yuba. Family and friends called on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are requested in her name to the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is serving the family.

Kenneth D. Worsham

Kenneth D. Worsham, age 81, of Mt. Hope, died on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born on November 16, 1928, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Raymond and Anna (Besler) Oberfoell. On September 25, 1952, he married Maralyn Rauch at Dubuque, IA. Kenneth was an employee and retired from the Dubuque Beef Packing Company.

Survivors include his daughter, Dana (John) Breuer, Sterling, IL; two sons: Timothy Worsham, Mt. Hope; Tarin (fianc Carol Esser) Worsham, Kenosha,; grandson, Joshua (Holly) Breuer, Stockton, IL; two great-grandchildren: Caitlin and Cody Breuer.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his son, Shayne.

Funeral services were held on Monday, August 16, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial will be in Cassville Cemetery, Cassville Township. There was no visitation.

Lois E. Wulf

Lois Eleanor (Volp) Wulf, age 91, passed away at home with her daughters by her side on December 30, 2009 after a brief battle with Leukemia.

Lois was born June 17, 1918 in Menomonie, Wisconsin the daughter of Frank and Clara (Stokke) Volp. She graduated from Menomonie High School in 1936 and the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 1941. She began her teaching career in Prescott, WI where she met the love of her life, Merton H. Wulf. They were united in marriage on May 31, 1943, and settled in Lancaster, WI in 1946. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1986. Lois taught Home Economics in Lancaster (one year in Bloomington) for 20 years; she and Mert retired from the Lancaster School District in 1977.

In addition to teaching, Lois and Mert managed the Lancaster Golf Course for 13 summers. Lois was a member of the Lancaster Congregational Church, PEO, and Eastern Star for over 50 years, and also a long time member of the church choir.

Lois was generous with her time and talents in the Lancaster community. She loved to socialize & have a good time. She was known for her quick wit & her warm smile. She enjoyed traveling with her daughters & was an avid sports fan of all Lancaster sports as well as collegiate and professional teams.

Lois is survived by three daughters, Sharon (Larry) Lemanski of Commerce, TX; Pamela (Douglas Clapp) Humphrey of Parker, CO; Barbara (Tom Kuban) Wulf of Madison, WI; Grandchildren, Scott (fianc Tracy Pena) Lemanski Corpus Christi, TX, Jennifer (Andrew Monaco) Lemanski, Edinburg, TX, Sarah (Steven) Reinprecht, Boca Raton, FL, Amanda Clapp, Arlington, VA; Andrew, Eric & Leah Kuban, Madison, WI. Great-grandchildren, Henning Reinprecht and Katherine Monaco. Sister-in-law Hannah Volp and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Merton Wulf; siblings Glenn Volp, Valeria Miller, Earl Volp, Richard Volp, & Frank Volp; Mother- and father-in-law Clinton and Fae Wulf; sisters-in-law Merle Haack, Leone Sibilsky, brothers-in-law Milton Haack & Marvin Sibilsky; niece Lana Siebers and nephew Frank Volp.

We would like to extend a very special thank you to Moms wonderful neighbors, Charlene & Norbert Schildgen and Lois & Virgil Vorwald, who made it possible for Mom to remain in our family home by looking in on her and doing all kinds of helpful tasks and to all of moms wonderful friends and family who always made her feel so loved. A special thank you to Theresa Dressler, Dr. Robert Stader & his staff, Grant Regional Health Center staff & Grant County Hospice staff.
